Blocks For Making Your Own RTW Patterns
Blocks/Slopers are the foundation for making patterns ... everything starts with a block ... being able to manipulate a block means never having to buy a pattern again! We use a block to keep proportion consistent across various sizes when we make new designs ... all big companies have their own set of blocks from which they make their patterns.
Anyone considering designing patterns or garments for commercial sale must start with a set of standard sized blocks for their particular market. Blocks should not be designated as S, M, L, etc., but by an actual measurement, usually bust or hips. It's after at the pattern stage that you allocate an arbitrary size name.
My block systems are deliberately designed so that people can edit them in a CAD program so they include both Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw native files. I also include a layered PDF file for people who just want to print the blocks only and work on paper (PDFs can be printed in software like Adobe Acrobat)
If you want to design a range of swimwear or dancewear for retail RTW sizing then you're going to need a set of blocks! These are aimed at professional designers and pattern makers ... you'll find them at the top of the shop. come with my continuous update policy ... once you purchase a particular set, if I update it I'll send you the new file automatically for free!
