About Me
My name is Stuart Anderson
I'm a Master Pattern Maker, specialising in women's stretch fit pattern making, and I've been at this since 1990. If you've ever studied stretch fit pattern making or read a book on the subject, then you've probably already seen my efforts without realising it. I'm the guy who invented the concept of negative ease ... that's the percentage reduction of a body measurement when drafting a pattern such that it'll feel comfortable, conform to your shape and remain stable the whole time you're wearing it.
I'm what you call an academic ... I teach and research stretch fit pattern making along side my work in industry ... I've helped fashion schools design their pattern making courses and assisted with government assessment for course suitability. I've represented various industry bodies in directing course direction as technology has changed. I've acted as an industry expert in government inquiries and for funding committees. I've even been called on by legal representatives to interpret IP claims ... I've seen it all!
My greatest passion, however, has always been to create original designs and patterns for women's swimwear and dancewear. I hope to share that passion with you through this website.
